Introduction

 

Programme Aims and Objectives

The programme will enable you to develop the required critical, enquiring approach to nursing that supports the high quality, safe, evidence based and effective care across dynamic, contemporary healthcare environments. Graduates of this programme will possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to practice collaboratively across health care settings and communities and within the context of the Singapore Nursing Board’s Domains of Practice and the global perspectives of health.

This programme aims to develop your interest in - and knowledge and understanding of -contemporary health care, in order to:

- Prepare you at graduate level with the necessary critical abilities, knowledge and skills to support high quality, safe and effective care within dynamic health care environments

- Enhance your current knowledge and skills to enable you to further develop your career in nursing

- Develop higher levels of competence in providing excellent care in a dynamic health care environment

- Develop the leadership and evidence based, decision-making skills to enhance your practice and work co-productively within services and communities

- Enhance the development of advanced communication and interpersonal skills

 

Methods of Assessment

A variety of formative and summative assessment methods are used in the programme. Each module is assessed on whether students have met its learning outcomes. Formative feedback is provided to inform you on how you are progressing and to provide you with constructive guidance to inform your development. The Programme has a set of evidence-based standards around student feedback, which will help ensure that you receive the highest quality formative feedback and ‘feed-forward’. Assessment methods include the use of essays; projects; portfolios; reflective analysis and practical assessments or Observable Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).

 

Professional Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science Nursing (Top-Up) programme is accredited by the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).

 

Entry Requirements

Registered nurses with Singapore Nursing Board who hold a certificate or diploma in nursing and a current practicing certificate (full and conditional registration only) issued by SNB.

 

English Language Requirements

- IELTS with a minimum overall band of 6.0 (with no component less than 5.5)

- C6 in English at GCE 'O' Levels

- C in GCSE

- iGCSG (1st or 2nd Language)

- Grade 6 or above in SPM

- Medium of Instruction Confirmation
