My client is a world leader in optics, speciality materials for glass, lasers, microscopes and ceramics and produce innovative products that are used by several sectors. They now seek a highly experienced Business Development Leader.

  • Develop the strategy for growth plans across the region (SEA) and grow the sales and marketing strategies to deliver said growth plan
  • Assume prime responsibility to identify, pursue and secure high profit business opportunities through applications of base products and technology
  • Conduct market planning and analysis including 5 year plan, market forecasting, and competitive intelligence
  • Foster strong relationships with the key customers and decision makers within customer base.
  • Manage and drive engagement with marketing lead generation ensuring all leads are followed up, qualified and feedback given
  • Conduct early stage opportunity assessments to prioritize business development efforts and drive exceptional working practices to deliver the required results.
  • Develop and manage a number of strategic programmes to grow the customer base in a profitable and sustainable manner.
  • Lead the development of the business case, value proposition, and initial pricing strategy for products or programs through early stages of innovation until the full transition
  • Participate in divisions’ technology strategy and development by providing critical input on regional technology trends, risks and opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a regional network of leaders for targeted industries, academia and government organizations

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering with a Business/MBA Degree with at least 10 years of experience in a customer facing / general management role
  • Work experience in business development, marketing or product line management
  • Prior work experience in Manufacturing, Product Development, Engineering and in a MNC with a matrix business structure and environment
  • Strong Hunter approach to uncover and capture new business opportunities
  • Proven track record in strategy formulation and execution contributing to significant growth
  • Significant experience in a similar sales role with detailed understanding of the industry
  • Demonstrable experience working in a team environment with the ability to influence and motivate complex, matrix teams both virtually and directly.
