An Android Developer is responsible for developing applications for devices powered by the Android operating system. Due to the fragmentation of this ecosystem, an Android developer must pay special attention to the application’s compatibility with multiple versions of Android and device types. They must also have a strong understanding of the patterns and practices that revolve around such a platform.
Participate in the full lifecycle of Android based apps by using Java, Android SDK, and Android Studio
Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code
Design, build, and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable Java code
Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen s
Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
Strong understanding of general Android constructs such as Android XML layouts, Content Providers, Fragments, and Activities
Deep familiarity with the Java language, Android API libraries and Android Developer Tools
Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines
Understanding of overall app architectures like MVVM, MVP, MVC
Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
A knack for benchmarking and optimization
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
