Job Description

  • To assist the team lead of the IFRS 17 project in the implementation of the new insurance accounting standard for the Company.
  • Responsible for project management i.e. coordination of activities between the different teams (mainly IT, Actuarial and Finance), as well as with Aviva Group.
  • Coordination with IT, which includes understanding the data flow in the source systems, in order to extract the data required for the implementation of the new Standard.
  • Successfully execute the projects assigned to achieve strategic objectives management of key performance results with the new accounting Standard.
  • Assist the team leads to review the new work process and controls (including documentation of SOPs for IT, finance and actuarial) with the new systems and work flow.

Effective Risk Management/Governance
  • Ensure analyses and outputs are documented and supported by reasonable bases. Ensure information provided to various parties comply with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements and Group requirements, where applicable.
  • Develop an understanding the Companys finance and accounting processes, terminology, workflows, system functionalities, parameters and interfaces, and implement changes as necessary for the roll out of the new Standard.
  • Participate and actively listen during training and calls with Group to understand key messages and implementation solutions
  • Propose technical solutions against business requirements for the roll-out of the new Standard
  • Participate actively in the UAT phase and ensure that system and testing related outputs are accurate
  • Result oriented with a sense of urgency to follow up with project-related matters to resolution and proactively report any concerns or unresolved issues that may lead to service interruption or project delays
  • Timely execution of project plan
  • Pro-active engagement with Group and others (e.g. Consultants, industry discussions) and ensure that one keeps up to date with developments in the industry on the implementation of the Standard.
  • Ensuring compliance to group standards/ process controls and sign off.
  • Escalating key issues to senior management in a timely manner.
  • To assist in the local rollout of the new solution for the implementation of the new standard (global build within the Group)
  • Review and implement enhancements in the existing system and controls
  • To ensure the quality and efficiency of all the financial reporting and actuarial processes.
  • Work closely with the Finance/Actuarial/IT teams on various business and technical issues related to the new Standards.
  • Manage relationships with Aviva Asia Regional Office and Group
  • Degree in Accountancy / Finance / Business / Economics
  • ACCA/CIMA or equivalent (part qualified)
  • CPA preferred (part qualified)
  • Experience in working with source systems data extraction and investigation (preferably AS400)
  • Knowledge of insurance (or financial services) operations
  • Solid experience in Requirement gathering and documentation experience
  • Experience transforming Business requirements to technical requirements
  • Familiarity with reporting tools, data warehousing concepts and data models (AS400)
  • Basic understanding of finance/ accounting processes
  • Basic understanding of insurance products and insurance product-related operations
  • Process-minded
  • Experience with Oracle preferred
  • At least around 5 to 8 years of working experience
