Job Description

Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and lead engineers, designers, and technicians to design, develop and validate new connectors and connector related products in a multi-cultural environment 
  • Confers with management, sales and marketing, and customers to determine engineering feasibility,cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new connectors and connector related projects 
  • Develop overall concepts for new products 
  • Discuss layout and refine connector product specifications 
  • Make detailed plans to accomplish goals 
  • Review, approve, or modify new product designs 
  • Develop cost estimates and approve expenditures 
  • Forecast operating costs of department and prepare budgets 
  • Schedule and make assignments as needed, and procurement for necessary supplies, equipment and ancillary services 
  • Review all plans and specifications, sign off on completion at appropriate intervals and upon completion of project as defined by the global NPI process. 
  • Oversee the research and development of new products and procedures 
  • Analyze workload and available resources 
  • Check technical accuracy of work 
  • Establish departmental policies, procedures, and standards incorporating global standards as applicable 
  • Coordinate activities of department with other units or organizations 
  • Analyzes and corrects problems or defects found in existing products 
  • Designs and develops components for Modification of Standard (MOS) products. Ensures documentation of the same 
  • Assists in writing specifications for products
  • Assists departments, sales, manufacturing engineering, and purchasing in all areas related to connector projects with matching culture 
  • Assists in training less experienced department personnel with matching culture 
  • Develop applications/rules for computer and drafting software currently utilized by the Engineering department in accordance with our global standards 
  • Develop and maintain BOMs for COMPANY product as needed 
  • Maintain a document control system as defined by the global Document Control Department 
  • Identifying possible hazards in areas under their supervision 
  • Enforcing safe practices within their departments 
  • Ensuring adequate employee training 
  • Coordinating efforts for employees returning to work after injuries 
  • Periodically auditing their operations for program effectiveness 
  • Identifying new hazards in areas under their supervision 
  • Ensuring that existing controls are adequate to provide employee protection 
  • Identifying employees who are not performing work safely 
  • Providing appropriate coaching and/or disciplinary action necessary to evoke safe behavior 
  • Conducting accident and near miss investigations within their departments and providing appropriate corrective actions 
  • Travel as needed to work with customers and sales team to develop new product ideas and provide technical support 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise all Design Engineering personnel in coordination with laws and regulations. Schedule and assign work as needed, hire, train, and mentor engineers and support staff, conduct performance reviews and handle internal department issues. 

Job Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field 
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Need to coordinate with Chinese Speaking customers
