Investor Relations, Comms & Business Development Manager - Private Equity – Myanmar
• Private Equity Firm
• Multi-Sector, Myanmar-Dedicated Investment
• Investor Relations & BD, Transition to Investment Management
The company is at an advanced stage of capital-raising for its first fund dedicated exclusively toward Myanmar. It will achieve a fund close of between USD$100-120m, one of the most significant to be established in the country to-date. Founded and led by a market-savvy Corporate Finance professional with Sovereign Wealth credentials and a noted Investment Partner offering a wealth of SE Asia fund investment and management experience, the senior team offers sound exposure to the Indo-China market and is well-supported by institutional investors. The sector-agnostic platform aims to generate long-term returns via growth (major) and buy-out (minor) investments. Aside from building a high-calibre investment team there is an immediate need to appoint an Investor Relations/Communications & Business Development Manager.
Reporting to the senior management team, the core objectives of the appointed individual will initially be focused in two areas. Firstly, from an IR/Comms perspective, there is a need to build and manage relationships with the Fund’s investors whilst preparing and managing all investment and financial content for public and private announcements whilst managing all external communications. As a result, there will be a need to gather key quantitative and qualitative information relating to fund/investment activity including its ongoing performance whilst translating this into high impact presentations and soundbites. This is likely to include comparative benchmarking with similar PE/VC investors whilst ensuring that the firm’s investment strategy is well understood.
The second objective will be to build and cultivate senior-level contacts within the broader business community including continuous networking and relationship management. This will create a pipeline of investment prospects within the Myanmar corporate environment and with particular attention to high growth and specialist niche sectors (such as Consumer, Healthcare, Education/Training and Financial Services and similar). The second function role will include a need to undertake preliminary sector research, build a target list of companies, secure meetings to understand company vision and growth plans, explore potential financing requirements to fuel business expansion and evaluate the potential for Private Equity investment. As a consequence, the position is likely to evolve over a period of 12-15 months to allow the successfully-appointed individual to transition into Investment Management
This is an excellent opportunity to join a PE firm at its inception and with a strong commitment to Myanmar. This position will gain significant exposure to institutional investors as well as the business community whilst securing a strong understanding investment strategy.
As the position is permanently based in Myanmar, interested candidates should be Myanmar Nationals who offer good Degree and/or Masters in Corporate Communications, Business, Economics or Finance from a noted University and approximately 3-5 years post-grad experience gained within a Financial Services (Corporate Banking) or FUND IR/marketing/communications environment. Given the need to build relationships with key senior-level investors and corporate decision-makers, interested candidates must be outgoing, high-energy, self-driven and confident individuals with strong communication skills (Burmese and English language). Candidates able to process abstract information and investment ideas may be preferred whilst candidates should be proficient in MS Office, especially Excel complete with a sound financial foundation.
