Job Description
• Responsible for the overall coordination of the design of the Infrastructure Network Solutions.

• Implementing and Producing an integrated solution covering all areas and in line with the Group Infrastructure Operations strategy

It is essential that this integrated solution is accompanied by an Operational Support model including:

• Ongoing Maintenance procedures (e.g. Patching, Log Clean-up, etc.)

• Backup and Restoration procedures

• Monitoring and Alerting

• Resolver Groups are identified and engaged

• If required, a Disaster Recovery solution for the Infrastructure components has been created and associated processes documented

• Hardware and Software licences are included in the inventory system

• Ongoing Operational cost is understood and accepted by the cost centre owners

• Signoff and acceptance by all relevant stakeholders

• Gathering the Infrastructure requirements for all projects with infrastructure deliverables

• Working closely with the Infrastructure Project Team (IPO) on project engagements

• Working with Infrastructure Designers to provide a consensus based enterprise outcome that is scalable, adaptable and in line with ever changing business needs

• Producing a network diagram that identifies all network components of the solution

• Document and communicate enterprise Network and Communications strategies and standards

• Ensure solution compliance and integration with enterprise architecture and Infosec policy for Network and Security systems by reviewing and advising on new and existing Information Technology projects

• Providing advice and guidance to management during planning phases to ensure that non-functional requirements are included in the overall specifications

• Providing advice and guidance to all areas of IT and Business Management, analysts, planners, designers and developers on all aspects of network Infrastructure

• Playing a major role in the selection of any new IT, infrastructure or technology solution

• Identify, gather and document the requirements

• Ensure that the requirements have been signed off by the project

• Create and document the solution using the existing Infrastructure Standard Platforms and Design Patterns

• Produce a cost estimate for the Hardware, Software, ITO Labour and Facilities cost

• Ensure that the solution documented covers the Operational Support components for all network components

• Explain the solution and the technology cost to the requestor

• Support the IPO project manager in obtaining of the formal approval signoff for the solution with the associated cost estimate

• In addition, this role may act as a mentor in order to develop less experienced senior network designers and architects.

Job Requirements

• Preferably with IT Degree or equivalent and minimum 10 years of experience in the telecommunications field leading the architecture development, design and deployment of large enterprise networks

• Design planning and technical specification skills, incorporating advanced problem solving and analysis of network, security infrastructure and communications technology systems

• Industry certification, e.g. CCNP, CCIE, CISM, TOGAF qualifications are highly desirable

• Expert knowledge of LAN, WAN and Data Centre network architectures, enterprise design and industry standards relevant to data communications / networking and computing.

• Expert knowledge of command structures and system component relationships for latest generation Network and Security infrastructure

• Good understanding of the business for which the Infrastructure Architecture is developed

• Ability to direct project design and planning activities associated with complex or large d network infrastructure development projects.

• Experience in dealing with vendors on technology and services

• Good knowledge of IT governance and operations

• Understanding of financial modelling related hardware, software and services

• Understanding of project and program management planning and methodologies

• Broad Technical knowledge of all Infrastructure Technologies: Servers (RISC, x86, Mainframe, etc.), Operating Systems, Storage and Backup, Networking – Voice, Video and Data, Security – Firewalls, Intrusion and Data Loss Prevention, End User Technology

• Big picture thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole

• Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand

• Demonstrable experience in presenting to senior business management teams i.e. Executive Leadership Team or Board level

• Innovative thinking capability, with a passion for thinking out of the box and introduction of new technologies
