My client is a global name in the R&D and manufacturing of complex, dynamic and state of the art products and now seek a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Architect. Responsibilities: Assume responsibility for mechanical design, architecture and developments in the areas of design, documentation, development, schedule and testing of new and current product portfolio Produce cost effective designs and meet overall product specifications and project goals Drive entire Mechanical development from concept to production and lead overall mechanical design work in a cross functional team with marketing, manufacturing engineering, electrical and software engineering Translate the product requirements into a functional system with a detailed technical design plan Analyse, select and implement product architectural options and define and deliver new technologies to be incorporated into products Define and deliver new technologies to be incorporated into products Develop modular approach to hardware design and product architectures Assist manufacturing in the development of cost-effective manufacturing techniques Ensure active involvement in other aspects of the product development such as solving manufacturing issues, product performance, repair issues, product improvements, and value engineering Define, design and refine required mechanism design and motion sequencing algorithms Works in close support of the marketing department in the analysis of customer need and in the development of product specifications. Develop test methodology, experimentation, prototype to verify design. Plan and complete all validations required by the product requirements as defined by QA Requirements: Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 7 to 10 years’ experience as a mechanical design engineer Prior experience as a Mechanical Architect. Experience with designing and architectural development of electro-mechanical parts. Expert knowledge of electromechanical system design, system architecture and complete product development life cycle Proficiency with mechanical design software – SolidWorks, Pro-E, Catia, NX, AutoCAD etc. Sound knowledge of tolerance stack analysis techniques. Competence with analytical techniques such as Design for Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing, Pugh Matrix, and Design of Experiments is desired. Experience with printers, dynamic and moving parts, medical devices, automation etc. would be a big plus.
