My client is a world leader in the medical and healthcare space and now seek an experienced Engineer to provide deep expertise in sterile packaging in order to support new sales growth and customer retention. Primary Responsibilities Ensure potential product quality problems are quickly identified and eliminated Apply DSFSS discipline and tools to identify critical material and processing variables using Design of Experiments. Coordinate the efficient and effective specification, procurement and purchase of new production and test materials. Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to facilitate best in class technical service through public speaking at conferences, webinars/seminars and authoring white papers. Provide expertise in material selection and package design of sterile barrier systems in order to support new sales growth and customer retention. Travel domestically and globally to support our sales team in the field including trial runs, troubleshooting customer processes and technical selling activities. Assess product portfolio and provide input to the organization for new product development. Act as project manager for new product development activities. Help train the sales team with respect to customer application, material and design aspects, and sterilization modes and create tools to make these teams more self-reliant. Ensure that testing and lab procedures are performed safely and all new materials and testing procedures are evaluated for potential safety risks Design new products that can deliver Six Sigma process capability levels. Improve existing product capability levels through thoughtful analysis and rigorous testing. Establish test methods using industry and company standards. Work with the Process Engineering and Operations teams to support new product validation Provide product design support to new or modified process engineering projects and ensure timely transition into manufacturing, with consideration to robust design, cost effectiveness and process validation. Drive and develop deep knowledge of sterile packaging design and processing alternatives to ensure technical leadership with internal and external customers. Leads projects to improve customer satisfaction and/or product capabilities. Coordinate internal resources and ensure effective communication and reporting of results. Lead and report progress of key projects using appropriate methodologies and sound engineering approach to ensure continuous and breakthrough improvements. Actively support customer’s technical teams on new product introductions and validations. Establish and maintain a network of technical peers in complimentary businesses such as forming trays, equipment and sterilization services. Education and/or Experience: Advanced Degree in Packaging, Engineering or equivalent with at least 10 years’ experience Knowledge of sterile and flexible packaging design and performance. Deep knowledge of flexible packaging converting and sealing equipment including Thermoform-Fill-Seal and Tray/Lid Sealers Expert knowledge with DFMEA, DOE, Gauge R&R, Process Capability, and SPC.
