Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Carry out engineering design / drawings and supervise the works of his subordinates and ensure that requirements for engineering designs/drawings are in place.
  • Assist the Assistant Section Manager / Section Manager / Senior Section Manager in the management of the respective sections of the Engineering Office.
  • Plan, organise and manage engineering activities and feedback crucial matters from projects.
  • Perform the role of Lead Engineer when appointed.
  • Carry out engineering design/drawings related to their disciplines.
  • Assign jobs to the Assistant Engineers, Technical Officers, Technicians and Senior Technicians.
  • Review design and drawings prepared by subordinates.
  • Review and approve, if required, production drawings (e.g. isometric drawings) prepared by Production and Engineering.
  • Prepare Purchase Specifications, as required.
  • Approve drawings submitted by sub-contractors or vendors.
  • Provide technical support to Operations and Commercial Departments.
  • Ensure that all standard operating procedures comply with specifications, quality standards, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned to him / her.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree in Naval Architecture / Civil / Marine and Offshore / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1 (Motorship), or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years of relevant working experience, preferably in marine/ offshore industry
  • Knowledge of functional and operational requirements related to design of all types of ships and offshore vessels
  • Knowledge and experience of his engineering field
  • Knowledge of regulatory and class requirements
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess supervisory skill to coach and motivate staff
  • Able to work in a team
