Job Description
HTML / Web  DEVELOPER

ROLE SUMMARY
  • This is a great opportunity to join one of the most successful, international, award-winning strategic corporate communications consultancies. 
  • The role of the HTML Developer is to design and implement HTML solutions for consultancy's on-line projects. 
  • The HTML Developer will be involved in the cost effective implementation of front-end web interfaces according to the latest W3C specifications/recommendations, implementing complex and accessible HTML designs and will hand code bespoke HTML interfaces on a day-to-day basis making full use of latest CSS technology. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To develop HTML front-ends for projects according to the approved specification and pre-determined standards (HTML, XHTML, WCAG, etc.) 
  • To complete development of software according to the agreed schedule 
  • To ensure that appropriate software engineering principals are applied during the development of software 
  • To ensure that software performs according to the agreed specification 
  • To develop fully validated cross-browser XHTML websites using the latest CSS specification 
  • To produce quality technical documentation 
  • To notify the Team Leader of any additional work requested by Clients at the time at which the request is made 
  • To advise the Team Leader of any anticipated variations in the technical specification, schedule or costs 
  • To accurately record time spent on all projects and maintain a record of any additional work requested by Clients 
  • To develop and apply appropriate testing procedures to ensure that software performs correctly. In particular to ensure that software meets any cross platform/browser requirements laid down in the Technical Specification and 
  • To stay abreast of the latest technical developments in e-commerce web development and apply them, where appropriate, to projects undertaken for Clients. 

REQUIREMENTS
  • BSc in a Computing/Scientific/Mathematical subject 
  • 5+ years commercial experience of the following is required: 
           a) HTML5, XHTML, CSS, DOM 
           b) Hand-coded HTML development/editing software 
           c) Pixel-perfect HTML rendition of Photoshop templates 
           d) Strong UI/UX design awareness and operational skills in Adobe CS Products 
            f) Client-side scripting JavaScript experience 
  • 5+ years commercial experience of the following is required: 
           a) W3C WCAG 1.0
           b) Website Testing
  • Sound knowledge of any of the following would be highly advantageous: 
           a) HTTP Protocol 
           b) Knowledge of CSS/JS animations
           c) Familiarity with modern animation libraries such as GreenSock (GSAP) and Three.js
           d) Some exposure to CSS meta-languages (SASS or LESS), scaffolding and build tools would be advantageous
           e) WebGL
           f) Differences between different rendering engines
           g) Good understanding of how to use the different image types
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills necessary to build trust and respect both externally and internally 
  • Good eye for detail and the ability to quantify what steps were taken and what symptoms were displayed when problems arise 
  • A non-hierarchical approach with a `roll up your sleeves' attitude to getting the job done 
  • A desire and ambition to self-improvement 
  • Ambitious for work quality and a commitment to customer service excellence 
  • A good sense of humour is essential
