APAC Risk Control Management team
APAC Risk Control Management team is part of the APAC Chief Risk Officer (CRO) Office which drives control agendas across the Risk organization in the region, in close partnership with global risk control management teams and regional teams including Compliance, Internal Audit, Lines of Business and other Control Management functions.
Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join APAC CRO Office to manage risk control related agendas, including issue & action plan management, support on regulatory exams & engagements, interactions with internal audits, to drive a risk mitigating culture within APAC Risk organization. In addition, the role will also cover global and regional control related initiatives, such as Office of Legal Obligations (OLO), Control & Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) rollout.
The successful candidate will be a Vice President with a proven track record in risk management, internal control, compliance, internal audit, and/or equivalent function(s). The role will report to the APAC Risk Control team lead and work closely with CROs / Legal Entity Risk managers (LERMs), Risk Function leads, and other partners in the region including Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and Line of Business Control teams, as well as our global counterparts.
Key activities will include:
  • Manage issue workflow from end-to-end, including root cause analysis, action plan development and issue validation; provide ongoing assessment and tracking of risk-owned issues and action plans
  • Provide support to CRO and Credit Risk team in China on internal audit exercise, liaise with Internal Audit on audit scope and schedules, RFI request, and potential areas of concerns
  • Support global initiative to incorporate APAC legal entity level information into COREsystem for Risk processes through deep dives with respective risk functions in the region
  • Coordinate the execution of OLO program for APAC Risk organization and monitor progress till completion
  • Analyze Credit Risk related obligations and engage with relevant Credit risk teams to determine proper documentation mapping and identify if there is any gap
  • Coordinate regulatory activities impacting APAC Risk functions to ensure proper engagement with impacted risk stripes in regards to preparation of RFI, ad hoc regulatory requests and exam finding responses to regulators
  • Review responses on RFI and other ad hoc regulatory requests provided by risk stripes representativesto ensure consistency
  • Closely connect with Compliance, Legal Entity Risk Managers and risk stripes representatives to discuss approaches for specific regulatory requests; Attend exam meetings and project manage deliverables where appropriate
  • Proactively promote risk control awareness at all levels and across locations especially for locations with active business expansion activities (e.g. China); Develop and deliver training sessions / programs as needed
  • In addition, support execution of other risk control related priorities and deliverables

Key Skills
The candidate must be a self-starter who is able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment and capable of communicating and escalating appropriately across senior audience. Additional qualifications include:
  • 10+ years of work experience in financial services and currently at VP or equivalent level, with 5+ years ofexperience in risk management, internal control, or equivalent function(s) required
  • In-depth understanding of 3 Lines of Defense model and Risk Management processes & controls required
  • Proficient with laws and regulations on banking & security businesses in APAC location(s)
  • Experience in managing regulatory exams & requests and dealing with regulators highly preferred
  • Ability to articulate information concisely and interact comfortably with senior stakeholders
  • Able to operate across locations and functions with demonstrable strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Excellent project management, proactive approach to problem solving, owning the issues and having the determination to follow tasks / issues through
  • Ability to work independently as well as good team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in Mandarin and proficient with simplified Chinese required as the role will provide in-depth support for China
