The Assistant Manager will support the Manager/ Deputy Director and Head of the Antimicrobial Resistance Coordinating Officein the implementation of the National Strategic Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) which is in line with the World Health Organisation Global Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance.This will be achieved through the coordination of antimicrobial resistance efforts within and beyond NCID, and across the One Health agencies which are part of the animal, human, food, and environment sectors.
The staff will also support and facilitate the coordination between the AMRCO and the vertical units (research, training, epidemiology and laboratory) in NCID with regards to the execution of educational events and campaigns that promote optimal use of antimicrobials, the coordination of antimicrobial research and the tracking and reporting of antimicrobial surveillance.
  • Assist theProgramme Head and Manager/ Deputy Director in carrying out the functions required under the National Strategic Action Plan (NSAP) on AMR.
  • Coordinate amongst the One Health agencies, the AMR efforts across the animal, human, food and environmental sectors.
  • Oversee the horizon scanning of the AMR research landscape in Singapore, maintenance of AMR research databases to facilitate the sharing of data and translate research findings into policy and operations to close existing gaps in preventing and addressing AMR
  • Engagement of the One Health research community and develop avenues to facilitate cross-sectorial collaboration
  • Tracking the progress of the NSAP of AMR through the collection and tracking of AMR monitoring & evaluation (M&E) indicators
  • Expansion of antimicrobial utilisation and stewardship programmes in community hospitals and primary care together with NARCC and its expert panels
  • Expand the inclusion of AMR, prescribing and stewardship as a learning objective in the training of healthcare professionals at institutes of higher learning
  • Provide secretariat support to the One Health AMR work group and other committee meetings, including taking minutes, preparing meeting agenda and presentation materials, scheduling and others.
  • Execute any other adhoc activities required under the National Strategic Action Plan on AMR.

  • Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree.A degree in a related discipline of public health, bacteriology epidemiology, biostatistics, biological, chemical or physical sciences or a related discipline would be an advantage.
  • At least 5-7 years work experience in public health, health sciences, epidemiology, health promotion/ education, health policy work, research administration and/or enforcement work.
  • Experience in research and/or research administration would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge and skill in providing epidemiologic analysis would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Proficient IT skills in word processing, email, and database entry and retrieval.
  • Detail-oriented, demonstrated ability to multi-task and coordinate effectively between a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders across the various sectors. Flexible and able to reprioritise workload to meet rapidly changing situations.
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain the security of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills; comfortable working with people of all levels and demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
