Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Occupational Hygiene Officer is responsible for identifying, assessing, and advising on risks arising from the workplace or work processes, recommending measures to eliminate or minimize and control the risks, and implementing the measures. He/she is also responsible for preventing or reducing health and environmental risks and improving quality of the processes.
He/she is expected to work with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish his/her work. The Occupational Hygiene Officer is expected to be analytical, resourceful and has good teamwork and collaborative skills to solve problems.
Job Responsibilities
  • Develop Occupational Hygiene (OH) assessments, audits, and inspections for the workplace
  • Develop and conduct OH trainings for employees
  • Analyze OH surveys, statistical data, and technical reports
  • Maintain the implementation of OH systems operations
  • Design appropriate strategies for health hazard prevention
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Initiate the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and activities
  • Carry out initiatives to eliminate risks in OH programs
  • Implement standard operating procedures for OH compliance requirements
  • Review effectiveness of implemented improvements on an on-going basis
  • Implement targeted instances of OH non-compliance, unsafe work conditions and practices
  • Monitor effectiveness of OH improvement actions
  • Identify OH non-compliance, unsafe work conditions and practices
  • Evaluate impact of health hazards on employees’ safety and prioritize issues based on severity
  • Any other ad-hoc duties that may be assigned

Education & Certification
  • Candidate must possess at least a Degree.
  • Specialist Diploma in Occupational Health is a pre-requisite.
  • Preferably a Registered Nurse Certificate from Singapore Nursing Board.
  • CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) certification is desirable.

  • At least 5 year(s) of working experience in clinical, manufacturing and/or hospitality field.
  • At least 3 years’ equivalent experience as Occupational Health Practitioner.
  • Experienced in Workplace Safety would be an added advantage

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer experience, project management and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Effective in problem analysis and decision making – identifying problems, recognizing symptoms, root causes, making timely and sound decisions.
  • Team player mentality with ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and challenges.
