Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a Global Logistics Freight Team with overall responsibility for directing and overseeing global freight and FGI outbound related operations and projects within the Applied Global Logistics Organization.
  • Support Applied Materials global business entities by development, implementing and maintaining logistics processes that comply with US and foreign tax/trade regulations
  • Work with Global Trade and local customs to ensure process designs and executions are following Applied trade policies.
  • Provide Logistics guidance and determine documentation requirements throughout the freight supply chain, including scope of work third party logistics provider.
  • Determine the need for, and sponsor Lean out-bound transportation concepts in partnership with field support organization (FSO), key customers, and 3PLs.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in Inbound and Outbound materials movement in terms of Safety, Cost, Quality and Delivery.
  • Identify freight network optimization opportunities and partner with Supply Chain to drive implementation.
  • Manage freight global operational performance and drive 3PL improvements.
  • Establish structure and cadence to review freight related process control exceptions that result in reported distribution quality non-conformance issues.
  • Develop and document root cause and corrective actions and work with outsourced and regional logistics partners for implementation
  • Conduct in-dept data analysis to understand freight related problems and opportunities. Distill findings into action steps for improvement
  • Provide customer service support via Control Tower Management to ensure effective shipment scheduling, order fulfilment and milestones visualization.
  • Seek out technological solutions to assist in data analysis, visualization, and response.
  • Setting operational goals and objectives, formulate budgets and oversee transportation expenditures

Minimum Requirements: Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics Operations or Supply Chain
  • Minimum 20 years relevant operations experience in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain Management
  • At least 8 years experience in Logistics Service Providers management
  • Demonstrated experience in network optimization, process improvement, cost and productivity improvements
  • Experience in a fast paced, high volume industry environment would be an asset

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Good network contacts in Global Transportation
  • Strong ability to manage 3rd party logistics providers and drive performance metrics / improvements
  • Ability to demonstrate high sense of urgency and is highly adaptable in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Attention to details and analytical in problem solving
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and collaborate with a culturally diversified cross functional team
  • Excellent English written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge in DMAIC, 8D and Six Sigma typed Quality methodologies is preferred.
