JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Luxury Openings, APEC is responsible for assisting and supporting pre-opening hotels and area teams, under the MILUX portfolio, to create a strong Luxury Brand culture and engagement from the start with the pre-opening process until the Hotel opens on day zero of the countdown. The Director of Luxury Openings, APEC possesses in-depth knowledge about each of the luxury brands and the respective touchpoints whereby the brand experiences and programming, both internal-facing and guest-facing, are brought to life on property. The incumbent will be responsible for liaising with Continent, Regional, and Area Luxury Leaders as well as the hotel GM to ensure a smooth operating model is in place to ensure flawless execution of the pre-opening countdown program.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
  • Must possess strong project management experience along with organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Marriott’s Luxury Brands’ continent and discipline organizations
  • Previous hotel experience with Marriott’s Luxury Brands at Division/Department head level preferred
  • Previous experience leading a cross-functional team is a must
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Job Specific Skill Requirement
  • Project management experience
  • 8+ years Luxury Brand Operations experience on or above property (preference for Rooms or Events operators)
  • Exceptional communication skills via a remote environment to assist with conference calls, webinars, project updates, etc.
  • Possess excellent relationship and conflict resolution skills
  • Understand how to synthe data related to operations performance and guest insights
  • Exhibit effective public speaking and presentations skills
  • Present ideas, expectations and information in a concise, well-organized way
  • Ability to manage upward, ability to lead and influence change

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Luxury Openings Process
  • Manage and document the countdown processes for MI Luxury Brands across APEC
  • Liaise and coordinate with all key stakeholders (e.g., trainers, continent/regional/area operations leaders, AVPs, and hotel teams) to ensure timelines and milestones are met in accordance with the countdown process
  • Serve as liaison with the Global Luxury Operations team regarding luxury openings process / pilots, usage of the latest documents/assets, etc.
  • Partner with Regional Opening teams and Area Director of Operations
  • Liaise with APAC Luxury Brand leaders to ensure the culture of each luxury brand is brought to life on property successfully
  • Assist with the planning and deployment of the pre-opening trainers and provide support during pre-opening training activities
  • Champion luxury brand directives and strategies and educate all applicable stakeholders
  • Ensure regular updates to the critical path to capture the most recent operational and brand changes

Project Management
  • Assist regional, area, and hotel teams throughout the logistical preparations of theopening process for new and conversion luxury hotels
  • Liaise with various continent disciplines as necessary for a successful opening (e.g., Brand Operations, Global Design, IT, Learning)
  • Multi-unit project management skills to ensure tracking of milestone tasks.
  • Regularly report hotel opening date
  • Travel will be required 50%+

Luxury brand performance support measurements
  • Dedicate 15-20% of the time to support quality-related projects for newly opened / identified operating luxury hotels, working closely with Area Directors of Operations and Hotels in improving guestVoice results
