The Role Responsibilities
This role is integral to drive the Reputational and Sustainability Risk agenda and embed the Reputational and Sustainability Risk framework within key business processes and across markets.
The Head, Reputational & Sustainability Risk Frameworks will:

  • In accordance to the Enterprise Risk Management framework, lead the implementation of the policy framework of Reputational & Sustainability risk to fulfil the requirements of second line oversight and challenge across the Group.

  • Lead the development Risk Appetite, Corporate Plan and other risk identification, assessment, mitigation tools

  • Lead the development of the target operating model for Sustainability risk obligations and commitments.

  • Lead the development of and maturation of Reputational and Sustainability risk practices in the horizon scanning of emerging Reputational and Sustainability risks and regulatory obligations across countries and Group.

  • Supervise and ensure delivery of Reputational and Sustainability regulatory interpretation and policy formulation.

  • Supervise and ensure effective monitoring of obligations relating to Reputational and Sustainability risks and provide ongoing attestation to regulatory authorities to confirm compliance to relevant regulations.

  • Develop the management and assurance behind the Group&rsquos Sustainability-related commitments.

  • Ensure the control environment for Reputational & Sustainability Risk is reviewed for weaknesses and closing of gaps highlighted through the Effectiveness Reviews.

  • Ensure provision of inputs into Enterprise Risk Management activities including external disclosures.


Strategy

  • Transform and execute Sustainability Risk management strategies into Reputational & Sustainability Risk frameworks and policies.

  • Supervise and lead the integration of the Sustainability Risk management across Clients, Third Parties and Operations, in alignment with our Bold Stands and Chapter 3 ambitions.

  • Ensure Reputational & Sustainability Risk contribute Group-wide strategic initiatives and alignment of our portfolio to various external commitments such as Net Zero.


Business

  • Drive the embedding of Sustainability Risk considerations into first-line processes i.e. Businesses, Supply Chain Management, and Functions and ensuring first-line are kept up to date with evolving risk and regulatory landscape.

  • Where required, supervise, and endorse enhanced training and guidance materials for the frontline and second-line risk owners.


Processes

  • Ensure new areas of risk is integrated in the process universe for Reputational and Sustainability Risk.

  • Supervise the maintenance of formalised procedures and DOIs for all Reputational and Sustainability Risk processes.


Risk Management

  • Uphold the integrity of risk/return decisions, by challenging business to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with the reputational and sustainability risk strategy and risk appetite.

  • Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weaknesses become apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees.

  • Act as second-line for risk areas aligned to the Reputational and Sustainability Risk RTF and Policy. Review and challenge Standard generation and updates.


People and Talent

  • Lead, develop, and build an effective and impactful team within Reputational & Sustainability Risk.

  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and people development to ensure that holders of critical roles are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles

  • Build and promote the appropriate culture and values within the Risk function and across the wider organisation.


Governance

  • Supervise and ensure the management of Reputational and Sustainability Risk adheres to the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements.

  • Embed the Group&rsquos values and code of conduct in Reputational and Sustainability Risk.

  • Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues are reported to the respective risk governance committees.

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group&rsquos Values and Code of Conduct.

  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

  • Support the Reputational Risk, ERM team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank&rsquos Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients Financial Crime ComplianceThe Right Environment.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Strong understanding of Reputational and Sustainability Risk management with track record of transforming Sustainability Risk management strategies into Framework and Policy

  • Experience in formulating and implementing Reputational and Sustainability Risk Framework, Policy, and Standards.

  • 3 years&rsquo experience in rolling out Enterprise Risk Management Framework.

  • Strong knowledge of Sustainability risk regulatory landscape

  • A driver of change, &ldquonever settle&rdquo in enhancing existing risk management approach.

  • Demonstrated ability for problem solving, working independently and attention to detail

  • Strong capability to employ discretion and independent judgments.

  • Knowledge of financial and non-financial risks and trends.

  • Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills comfortable in building relationships at senior levels and across teams, with outstanding writingskills.

  • Confident and self-motivated person with a high level of drive and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

  • 15years' experience in a Financial Institution.
