About Legal

Managing Barclays legal risk is the fundamental responsibility of the Legal function. Our mission is to protect and create value for Barclays by managing legal risks and advancing opportunities, i.e. to protect and build the bank. Our role includes:

· Provision of business coverage and support, including commercial contracts, employment, intellectual property and transactional / deal support.

· Oversight of regulatory relations.

· Management of litigation portfolio.

· Management of competition law investigations.


About Legal Business Management
The role will form part of the Business Management Team, under Legal Function Management. The team handles and manages the non-legal aspects of the Legal function.


Overall Purpose of Role

The trainee will report to the Head of Legal Singapore for the area of coverage and interfaces with Barclays colleagues across different business and functions. On a day to day basis, the trainee will report to the APAC Legal Business Manager who will work with the Head of Legal Singapore in supporting the positions responsibilities.


Key Accountabilities

· Support Legal Singapore team on day to day logistics of governance and team meetings, colleague engagement planning and support.

· Assist in developing standard and ad hoc reports, templates, dashboards, scorecards, and metrics for Legal Singapore.

· Assist in Research, analysis, and presentation of data as assigned.

· Assist in compiling legal reports and dashboards to stakeholders.

· Assist in rollout and implementation of Legal Singapore programs.

· Assist in various Legal Singapore projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Any other duties to assist the effectiveness of Legal Singapore as required by the respective head of the Legal Business Oversight.


To be considered for this program, you must:

· Be a Singapore citizen or PR.

· Have a Diploma/Degree in any discipline.

· Have at least 3 years working experience.


Requirements

· Able to work in a dynamic environment

· Pro-active team player

· Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Competencies to learn:

· Ability to navigate a matrix organization and confidently interact and engage with a diverse spectrum of stakeholders.

· Communication & Interpersonal Skills through Engagement with Business/Functions and Legal colleagues.

· Build strong analytical skills to independently research and develop a good understanding of legal reports and dashboards.

· Understand the process, mechanics and implementation of a Legal project.


Duration of traineeship/attachment: 6 months
