Logistics Industrial Engineer
Job Purpose/ Summary
The Logistics Industrial & Operations Manager is a key role within the Singapore Manufacturing Logistics Operations organization.
The purpose of the job is to identify logistics operations improvement opportunities, applying scientific and mathematical principles of engineering to problem solving and developing solutions to enhance operations planning accuracy, maximize productivity and reduce waste. It is intended to achieve a synchronized and optimized operations between APC manufacturing and logistics, overall achieving defined customer service levels in terms of cost, quality and delivery.
This individual will report into the SGP Logistics Manufacturing Operations Director.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Logistics Lead in IE projects within area of responsibility. Assist in the implementation of these projection into business with quality tools, supporting processes and ongoing measures of success. Provides cot analysis and return on investment calculations associated with project section
  • Analyzing logistics operations and designing systems/workflows to maximize productivity and capacity.
  • Act as Logistics IE to partner with Applied Manufacturing operations and Global Continuous improvement team to analyze/improve inbound & outbound materials flow at factory buildings
  • Partner with manufacturing ops and IE to support strategic implementation of product introductions into volume manufacturing, ie building layout designs , material flow control and capacity planning
  • Create Logistics models or scenarios to predict capacity impact of changing manufacturing requirements to logistics
  • Introduce logistics modeling techniques to address issues in warehouse / materials flow forecasting and layout design.
  • Act as Logistics lead to partner with Manufacturing in material flows and handling equipment redesigns (eg: handing fixtures, metro carts, AGV, material presentation etc)
  • Develop specifications for equipment, facility layouts or material handling systems together with 3PL
  • Performs methods engineering analysis, including process design , time and motion study , and recommends materials flow improvement
  • Validate 3PL facility design, material handling systems , materials flow design to drives productivity improvement and space optimization
  • Applying scientific and mathematical principles of engineering to solving problems
  • Establish Key Process Indicators (KPI) and Scorecard metrics. Generate reports, maintains performance and drive 3PL on performance corrective actions and/or continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate the use of technology to maximize operations efficiency
  • Perform cost analysis, return on investment and cost estimations for analyzing alternative solutions
  • Establish standards and procedure for multiple functions, develop management control systems
  • Ensure compliance and controls to Applied Quality and Safety Standards in solution designs

Minimum Requirements: Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering & Design
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in process and systems improvement, preferring in a manufacturing/logistics environment
  • Warehouse automation experience as an added advantage
  • Capacity modeling, simulation and statistical analysis experience

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong computing skills such as statistical software, electronic layout/drafting (AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge and user skills in SAP environment as added advantage
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Manufacturing Logistics operations and lean principles, preferably in a semiconductor industry and/or fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge in DMAIC, 8D and Six Sigma typed Quality methodologies is an asset
  • Strong advanced analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) and collaborate with a culturally diversified cross functional team. Works to build consensus
  • Ability to demonstrate high sense of urgency and is highly adaptable in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PP, Notebook, & Access)
  • Strong ability to manage 3rd party logistics providers and drive capacity/productivity improvement
  • Solve complex problems, attention to details, exercises judgement based on analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines
