Job Description
  • Provide scientific and technical expertise for the daily operations, process improvement and development of the routine Haematology Laboratory
  • Assess and validate new technologies and/or methods suitable for patient care improvement in the field of routine haematology
  • Establish, implement and update departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist in laboratory quality assurance duties to implement, monitor and enforce MOH and CAP requirements on top of daily quality performance checks.
  • Investigate laboratory problems and ensure that corrective action is taken and documented.
  • Mentor and identifying training needs for junior staff.
  • This is a part time position and off hours standby should be expected.

Job Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant discipline with at least a year of relevant work experience in a diagnostic laboratory; or
  • Masters in a relevant discipline with at least 3 years of relevant work experience in a diagnostic laboratory; or
  • Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent with at least 6 years of relevant work experience in a diagnostic laboratory.
  • Experience in supervisory or administrative positions would be advantageous.
  • Acceptable laboratory experience: routine haematology, coagulation and/or body fluids tests.
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
  • Good interpersonal skills with strong leadership attributes
  • Effective communicator with people from different backgrounds
  • Must be meticulous and have good organization skills
  • Highly motivated with strong desire to contribute to patient care
