Core Objective
To lead in the development, performance and maintenance of the payroll activities of NUS with responsibilities for the day to day activities of your team
Main Tasks / Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibility to staff and direct the team:
  • Responsibility for the day to day activities of the team
  • Responsibility to assist in the payroll team development, performance and maintenance
  • Responsibility for the preparation of all payroll activities including payroll payments, reports and forecasts including tax returns and submission of claims to Government agencies and payroll management reports
  • Assist in the management of all accounting procedures in the Payroll systems used
  • Meet your project targets and those of the team as a whole
  • Smooth running of the team
  • Contribute to training and development of the team
  • To assist in complying with all payroll-related financial and legal requirements, responsibilities and obligations

Day to day responsibilities for the team:
  • be involved with all payroll activities including payments, reports and forecasts including cash projection, tax returns, claim submissions to government agencies and payroll management reports, including ensuring compliance with financial and legal requirements
  • train and appraise individual team members to ensure targets are met
  • to assist with the performance and development of team members, including counselling of team members
  • reporting (content and format as agreed) on a monthly basis, or as otherwise agreed
  • to assist in developing plans for team activities to achieve agreed targets and effective planning
  • preparation and agreement of individual action plans and targets for all team members
  • delegate authority and responsibility to the team with supervision, accountability and review
  • maintain accurate payroll, associated financial and other records, perform self-auditing of payroll
  • From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role
  • You are expected to provide guidance related to payroll matters to other teams
  • You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager. You must contribute towards the smooth running of the organisation.

Management / supervisory responsibilities- People who report to you
You have responsibility for the team members who will all report directly to you
  • At least an accountancy degree or equivalent qualifications sufficient to perform the job role
  • Minimum 10 years direct relevant experience in similar job role
  • Experience with payroll governance
  • Understanding of payroll and financial obligations (including statutory obligations), requirements and dynamics
  • Hands-on Experience with SAP/Successfactor Payroll
  • Proven record of leadership with ability to drive theteam with transformation projects to reap productivity gains
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
