Job Description :
The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at NTU provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out research in key areas. The School is consistently ranked in the top 3 worldwide. MSE is equipped with various types of apparatus and equipment for both teaching and high quality research. The research will involve a substantial level of collaboration. MSE invites application for the position of Research Fellow.
Key Responsibilities:
The Research Fellow (RF) will be involved in investigating the microstructure, property evaluation and synthesis of TiAl alloys. Development of a new family of TiAl alloys based on the beta phase will be part of the responsibilities.
This includes:

  • Synthesis of TiAl based alloys

  • Characterization of metals using diffraction, microscopy and spectroscopy techniques

  • Property evaluation of high temperature alloy samples

  • Development of a new family of high performance TiAl alloys

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or Materials Processing Engineering or similar

  • Demonstrated experience in processing of TiAl alloys

  • Expertise in characterization using TEM and diffraction techniques

  • Experience in property evaluation of high temperature alloy samples

  • Competency in machining and additive manufacturing of metallic materials

  • Strong expertise in high temperature metallic alloys, ideally with knowledge of TiAl alloys and 3D printing

  • Technical expertise in EBSD, TEM, SEM, and related data analysis.

  • Good knowledge in mechanical behavior of materials
