Job Description

Our lab is an innovative clinical focused research lab that develops molecular technologies which rapidly detect infectious disease to improve treatment outcomes. We harness the latest advances in molecular biology and data science to better understand and infection dynamics and guide development of our diagnosis systems.
Enabled by our proprietary infectome sequencing platform, we build cost effective clinically deployable systems for hospitals. We are advancing a technology heavy pipeline of integrating the newest sequencing technologies with in house data science to secure the highest sensitivity achievable via infectomics, with our clinical studies done in collaboration with partners in academia and industry.
About the Role
This role will involve close collaboration with the assay development team for the analysis of cutting edge infectomics data from the latest sequencing platforms. This position demands a high level of bioinformatics knowledge and genomic technologies. You will be leading workstreams to analyse unique cutting-edge clinical sequence datasets to provide new insights into disease biology, develop new bioinformatics infrastructure as well as working closely with wet-lab colleagues to plan experiments and help deploy the next generation of infectious detection technologies to clinical labs. There is potentially an option to further the work in the spinoff thereafter to translate the technology.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
. Analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, datasets
. Mining and integration of publicly available datasets
. Automation of QC processes
. Identification and benchmarking of sequence signatures for pathogen detection
. Creation and curation of internal data silos and databases
. Development of interactive resources to support other teams (e.g.Dashboards)
. Design and configure data flows from wet-lab instrument platforms in collaboration with the IT team
. Critically analyse and interpret data and accurately document and communicate results to other teams
Core Experience and Qualifications
. PhD degree or equivalent experience in related fields including physics, mathematics, engineering, biology or other related discipline with demonstrated scientific acumen
. Deep familiarity with Bioinformatics algorithms in the context of biology/medicine
. Deep familiarity with Unix/Linux and Docker/Singularity as well as Python, Rust, R and/or other commonly used programming languages
. Familiarity with cloud computing environments such as AWS is a plus
. Knowledge of pipeline management approaches such as CWL, SnakeMake, NextFlow etc
. Experience of working to best practice in bioinformatics for reproducible science
. Demonstrated project management skills is a pre-requisite
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work in cross-functional project teams
. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to advance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
