Job Descriptions:

Plan, execute and manage all phases of accounting and business-related research and thought leadership projects congruent with the Institute's strategy. This includes:

  • Generation of research themes or topics and monitoring of global, regional, and local industry and business trends.
  • Develop and implement research proposals that would enhance the Institute's thought leadership and advocacy position.
  • Collaborates with relevant industry stakeholders and government agencies to drive research topics and agendas of relevance and interest to the accountancy profession.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality research outputs that are produced within budget allocation.
  • Identification of appropriate research approaches, including preparations of survey questionnaires, focus group discussion questions, interview questions, etc.
  • Collection of analysis of data and interpretation of results.
  • Presentation of research results and writing of reports for publication.
  • Work closely with the Communications Department to effectively publicise the research output and ISCA's advocacy efforts via available media and communications platforms. This also includes working with the Events Department to organise events to enable the Institute to extend its research or advocacy efforts to intended audience.
  • Produce commentaries and/articles for IS Chartered Accountant journal on emerging business trends and developments that impacts the profession.
  • Regular horizon scanning and developing foresight into future trends and challenges that may impact the Institute's operating environment and of interests to the profession.
  • Carry out any other ad-hoc assignments assigned by immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • A good Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Business, Finance, Economics or Political Science.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the conduct of thought leadership business research and publication.
  • Keen interest in current and international affairs, and prevailing political, economic, and social trends. Curious and always on lookout for areas / topics that interest the accountancy and business community.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and conceptual thinking skills, with ability to grasp issues and acquire knowledge in new domains, and to analyse multiple sources of information and data to derive insights for research purpose and to make commentaries.
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to facilitate group discussions will be an added advantage.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Team player with excellent organisational skills and attention to details.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel including pivot tables, v-lookup, etc. Familiar with survey tools.
