Technical Integration Manager
We are one of the largest SAP implementations - Program Mercury. Mercury is a large, multi-year, enterprise-wide process transformation that will replace more than 1400 EY business systems and related processes with an integrated, SAP centric platform that will standardize and harmonize activities throughout the organization and significantly improve how EY manages its business. Program Mercury is a key enabler of EY’s NextWave, directly supporting the efforts of a number of transformation initiatives across the Firm by streamlining the application portfolio, reducing operating costs and providing a platform to deliver services more efficiently.
The Mercury solution is built upon the very latest of technologies (Portal, Mobile, SaaS) and a variety of hosting models (Cloud, Vendor and Internal). The SAP footprint is comprehensive, and the non-SAP components varied.
The opportunity
The Mercury Software Product on an annual basis will be enhanced through - one Major Release and two Deployment Releases. Major Release will include a technical refresh to the underlying technology (SAP) and significant Functional changes and improvements while Deployment Release, will deliver local statutory, legal and tax requirements to support additional Member Firms moving onto the Product.
The Technical Integration Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of complex portfolios of design and development between Mercury and local downstream systems to ensure that the solution meets the business requirements. This will involve managing multiple third parties with particular focus on the data integration required to support the use cases that support the business requirements. The individual must quickly develop an understanding of the Mercury Solution end-to-end and have the analysis skills to validate the overall requirements are both clear and thorough, the technical knowledge to triage the more complex issues and the management and organization skills to ensure multiple teams operating in different time zones meet both the required timelines and quality criteria that are defined by the Wave Manager. The Technical Integration Manager will be expected to come up with solutions to fix design gaps as well as to triage and recommend improvements for performance issues. The role will involve working with multiple delivery partners (internal and external) to deliver the requirements that make up these releases against the agreed plan and the required quality by balancing dependencies and constraints. This is multi-year program and truly global in nature.
This role will report directly to the Technical Delivery Lead who will provide limited management top cover. The individual will take full accountability for reporting progress on the workstream and managing the expectations of senior stakeholders from the business and technology. This role requires a seasoned, experienced Technical Project Manager who can bring a wealth of demonstrable strategic experience and own the end-to-end process of integrating Mercury to a portfolio of local apps. Proactively identifies and addresses application, platform and Infrastructure strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, applies judgment in triaging overall solution architecture, engineering methodologies, processes, and practices to specific requirements of projects/programs which may include product design engineering, information security, code maintainability and reliability.
Your key responsibilities

  • Get to grips at a technical level with a highly complex system in order to plan the integration of local applications with Mercury often via the Enterprise Data Warehouse which is used as a data hub
  • Understand and champion the solution at all levels (Infrastructure, Application, Integration, Information and Business Architecture)
  • Create / review and provide guidance for creating detailed architecture design packages to close solution gaps
  • Review and approve complex engineering design packages within and relating to the ERP program
  • Guidance of engineering staff so resolve complex defects including poor performance
  • Evangelize re-use through implementation of shared architecture and IT assets
  • Enforce adherence to architectural standards/principles, global product-specific guidelines, usability design standards, etc.
  • Proactively provide feedback regarding architecture and engineering sets, information security, standards and leading practices.
  • Minimize technical exposure and risk on projects.
  • Collaborate with Deployment Team, Solution Team and Delivery team as well as with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth region preparation for deployment
  • Work closely with:
  • Enterprise Architecture to define and apply enterprise level standards in solution architecture.
  • Third Party Vendors such as designated System Integrators, Hosting Providers and Application Management Support organizations, to ensure consistent handshakes and understanding of the end-to-end solution architecture.
  • Infrastructure Architects, Engineering Leads, Technical Leads and staff to understand strategic goals/objectives and translate into actionable plans.
  • Infrastructure and application architects & engineering to understand, validate and action infrastructure impacts on solution architecture.
  • Project Management to coordinate solutions from technical perspective and minimize technical risk.
  • Testing team to effectively support proper testing.
  • Security to ensure Architecture and IT adherence to secure standards, guideline and negotiate security trade-offs.
  • Operations to take into account operational (non-functional) requirements, including Environments management, release management to understand overall impact on the end-to-end solution architecture.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in IT methodologies and life cycles that will be used.
  • Very familiar with ERP implementation/management, service/operations management, ITIL, etc.

  • Excellent interpersonal, client service, organizational, and project management skills
  • Flexibility and willingness for international business travels [40-60% per year] - ability flexibility to work in a virtual environment across multiple time zones
  • Expert knowledge of MS-Excel including Macros, MS-Visio, MS-Project and, MS-PowerPoint
  • Experience of working in large programs of work with multi-location teams
  • Ability to build good relationships both within own team and with other teams
  • Ability to bring multi-disciplined teams, in a matrix organisation together into one delivery team
  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change
  • Ability to deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations/people under pressure
  • Ability to comprehend strategic direction not just tactical
  • Deep understanding of complex SAP implementation programs with dual paths to production
  • Extensive experience working with 3rd party vendors as service providers
  • As appropriate, set priorities for the team to ensure task completion and coordinate work activities
  • Excellent experience in client-facing roles within blue chip organizations
  • Proven experience with a Fortune 500 company working in a global environment

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • At least five to seven end-to-end SAP implementations and large complex deployment delivery experience
  • Minimum ten years of IT experience with seven years of Project Management experience
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English, both written and verbal.
  • Position requires accurate and timely tracking of time spent working on projects
  • Direction setting and articulating, consensus building, conflict mediation, diplomacy, etc.
  • Exercises influence at many levels of the organization up to the program and Global leader
  • PMP or Prince2 certified
