Job Description

IHPC is seeking a highly motivated research scientist to apply quantum computing techniques in optimization problems in Engineering Mechanics. The project aims to develop and adopt quantum computing to optimal design of advanced materials quantum computing algorithm development numerical analysis of structures and materials with pure or hybrid quantum computing techniques, and the integration of quantum computing, classical computing, and AI to solve optimization problems in advanced material/structure design.
  • Ph.D degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or other related fields.
  • Knowledge of quantum computing algorithms, such QAOA, VQE, quantum annealing.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis of data and machine learning techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering mechanics and finite element mothed.
  • Strong background in optimization theory and various optimization algorithms
  • Strong background in numerical methods such as solving linear/nonlinear systems of equations, solving partial differential equations
  • Experience in the quantum computing frontend, such as IMB QISKit, D-Wave Ocean SDK, or Google Cirq is a plus.
  • Enthusiastic in algorithms development and coding and a keen aptitude to learn.

Candidates with a strong background in optimization and numerical methods are encouraged to apply in spite of limited quantum computing background.
