Sr / Therapy Assistant (Occupational Therapy Department)
The ChallengesYou will be involved in various activities under the supervision of an occupational therapist including:
- conducting creative activities with patients with mental illness in group or individual settings. Creative activities include art, ceramics, craft (including using recycled material), music – singing and/or playing an instrument,
- conducting skills training activities. This includes domestic tasks, using computer and tele-communication devices, simple vocational activities and social\leisure activities,
- supervising patients in outdoor activities (such as sports, outings and gardening),
- carrying out administrative duties relating to the operations of the rehabilitation programs,
- assisting in carrying out assessment or treatment on patient’s self-care tasks (personal grooming, toileting, showering, etc.).
The Requirements- Minimum secondary school education, with trade certification (ITE, NAFA, NITEC certificate, etc.) in creative arts, crafts or other trade skills. Diploma qualifications will be an added advantage.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools.Relevant working experience in the social service industries or hospital/rehabilitation setting preferred. Team player who possesses good communication, strong interpersonal and instructional skills.Motivated to learn.Generally physically fit; able to do simple patient transfer maneuvers and have good gross and fine motor skills.Able to speak local dialect and comfortable in communicating with older adults. Remuneration will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
