Department Overview:

Global Operations and Business Services (GOBS) provide critical infrastructure services that support the trading, investment and corporate banking businesses of TD Securities. Our mission is To Deliver World Class Service to all internal and external clients as we place our focus on people, processes and controls. GOBS also provide independent and objective review on the processes used in various product trade lifecycles.

Payments & Correspondent Banking Services (PCBS) in Asia Pacific is part of Global PCBS within the GOBS organization. We are looking for individuals who will help us shape the Future of Payments and continue to build TD's presence and influence within the industry as a whole. We balance over $5 Trillion worth of payments daily and process approximately 6 million transactions annually. The Operations team is a fast-paced multifaceted team operating 22 hours a day, 5 days a week providing outstanding service to the Bank's Internal Partners as well as other Global Financial Institutions.

Wire Payment Operations (CLS- Continuous Link Settlement) is responsible for the monitoring of TD SWIFT Gateway for not only Canada, but all TD Offices outside of Canada. TD acts as a Third Party Clearer for Canadian (CAD) dollar Continuous Link Settlement (CLS) trades daily with 20 Partner Banks. This team will liaise daily with each global partner bank while providing world class customer service representing TD. In addition, this team is also responsible for the review of all wire payments for Retail, Commercial, Wealth, Corporate and wholesale clients.

Position Summary:

Reporting to Head of PCBS, the incumbent will manage the leadership and oversight of all operational and staff aspects of the WPO team in Singapore, consisting of 4 employees with further growth expected.

This position requires broad knowledge of payments (SWIFT and CLS) and correspondent banking services to provide procedural, documentation and structural advices on end-to-end process to working partners, ensuring high operational efficiency and service quality that is important to enhancing client confidence in the Bank.

The incumbent will:

  • Oversee a team of 4 with functional diversity and complexity where activities involve multiple step transactions, multiple systems and jurisdictions, higher volumes and/or medium to high complexity
  • Provide first point of contact support for email and/or SWIFT and ensure all queries from both internal and external clients are responded in a timely and professional manner
  • Support SWIFT Gateway operations and CLS / payments processing
  • Review the format of payments which do not qualify for straight through processing and provide recommendations on correct formatting to conform with SWIFT Standards as the end goal of increasing the rate of STP
  • Partner with others in the organization to advise on and support wire payments operations and the end-to-end completion of wires with 100% accuracy
  • Investigate payments messages that have issues within the payment process and ensure all investigation are monitored, follow up and resolved
  • Support the timely and accurate completion of business processes and procedures according to Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.
  • Report / escalate risk issues identified or process gaps
  • Acts as change agent for the team. Recommending and implementing changes to the way in which the team operates in order to improve service quality and process efficiency, and instilling a culture that embraces innovation, change and supports a global operating model
  • Support Head of PCBS with local and global initiatives and projects
  • Assist in UAT, BCP testing and other ad-hoc projects
  • Perform duties during non-standard hours, and other duties as required

Attributes and Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of professional and relevant experience in financial sector
  • Proven track record in leading team and resource planning
  • Solid knowledge of payments/SWIFT/CLS
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve complex issues
  • Good influencing and negotiations skills and ability to work with clients/counterparties and internal stakeholders at various levels
  • Risk awareness and attention to details / meticulous and strong follow-up skills
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
