Overview

We are Koru Partners, a thematically driven alternative investment firm identifying attractive investment opportunities that are backed by macro-holistic themes encompassing forward-looking social, economic, demographic, and technological changes. As a multi-asset investment manager, we manage funds ranging from real asset funds in shipping to venture capital. In addition, we also provide investment advice to established companies on their strategic opportunities.

We are looking for an experienced operations professional who is looking to grow with us. This is a critical senior role that covers the general running of the company’s operations to enable the managing partners to focus on strategy, business development, and execution of their respective investment funds and services.

We are willing to work with the candidate to train and transition the leadership in such areas as needed. Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the company’s day-to-day operations covering fund operations, compliance, people, administration, processes, and general operations.
  • Support the management in all tasks related to structuring, review of legal documentation, establishing, managing, and maintaining the operations of our fund entities.
  • Oversee the daily fund operations (including trade settlements, trade reconciliations, collateral management, P&L attribution, reporting) for liquid funds; and investor onboarding, capital calls, reporting, and distributions in the case of illiquid funds.
  • Establish, implement and maintain robust operations, controls and compliance frameworks and policies; and to ensure the firm and its fund entities remain in compliance with all regulatory requirements including non-financial reporting matters or submissions.
  • Build, maintain and manage relationships with counterparties, sub-advisors, legal advisors, banks, fund administrators, auditors, corporate secretaries and other service providers.
  • Oversee the client lifecycle processes such as onboarding, KYC, account setup, CRM setup, investor reports, capital accounts, distribution notices, funding of new deals and attending to investor queries/requests.
  • Establish, document and/or review appropriate policies and procedures; and ensure they are communicated across the relevant teams. Set overall strategy and drive process improvement; and monitor performance to proactively identify problems or efficiency issues and propose solutions.
  • Lead the operations team; manage HR processes and drive the recruitment process for new staff.
  • Spearhead special or ad-hoc projects, and any other operations-related initiatives.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in middle office or fund operations at an asset manager, fund administrator, or buy/sell side financial institution.
  • Familiar with principles of fund valuation, financial statements, and accounting practices (e.g. US GAAP, IFRS).
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (English) and a strong desire to learn and succeed.
  • Relevant degree from an internationally recognized university.
